Sandy Puc WorkshopI LOVE to take photographs. I'm sure this is no surprise to anyone reading this. Being a small business owner only about 20% of my time working is actually taking photos. The rest is dedicated to accounting, marketing, updating, editing, ordering, consulting, backing up, backing up the backup learning and various other tasks that somehow take more time than I want them to. This fall has been a busy one for Rachel V Photography, (YAY :) In the midst of a very busy week in October one of my favorite photographers and mentor Shelby of Simply Shelby Photography called me up and said "do you have anything going on tomorrow 3-10." I had to take a second to think about it because my to-do list flashed in front of my eyes. But I said "nothing in particular" and she offered me a ticket to the Sandy Puc workshop the next day. I was so excited. Once at the workshop there were 5 instructors and 4 sessions. So each photographer/Instructor told us what they would be covering and we got to pick who we went with. I am always trying to learn more and I learn so much better hands on than sitting in a classroom being lectured (probably why I was an art major) and the wonderful thing about this workshop is that it was hands on! The Instructor took groups of 6 or so to different locations around the hotel and set up shots with different lighting and light sources and then actually let us plug into the system and try some shots out. AMAZING! One of the instructors Jason Groupp, I went to two of his sessions, the way he explained things made sense to me. I could have stayed for a week. All the instructors were great and answered any questions we had as well as made sure the people that helped out by holding lights or backdrops were rotated out so everyone got a chance. Workshops like this inspire me and remind me how much I love what I do.
